Cool in summer and warm in winter, the three bedrooms and the suite at Riad Zina successfully blend contemporary comfort, traditional architecture, and the respect for the environment. All benefiting from private bathrooms and toilets, the bedrooms have all been uniquely decorated, in which Moroccan handicrafts subtlety sit side-by-side by contemporary furniture and objects, patiently collected over time by Beate.
In each bedroom, you will be able to admire works of art from artists, both Moroccan and foreigners who have lived in Morocco, all who have brought their inspiration and poetry from Morocco into each piece.
Located on the ground floor, Nejma (meaning ‘star’) is a charming room with a double bed (140cm/190cm), a fireplace and a TV. Nejma opens directly onto the courtyard of the Riad and its enormous lounging sofas, as well as having a a delightful view of the courtyard garden, made up of different varieties of cactus.
Sober and refined at the same time, Nejma offers a pure decorative style in which the dominant white brings out the warm colours all the more, as well as the richness of design in fabrics from the Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusuma, and the beautiful painting by Yamou. Nejma has its own private bathroom with shower, accessed outside of the room.
Also located on the ground floor, Al Ard (meaning ‘earth’) is a double bedroom with a king size bed, a supplementary Moroccan bench seat/bed, and en suite bathroom with bath in tadelakt. Being as Al Ard is on the ground floor, it is air-conditioned by natural means.
The Art and Design of this room includes two small formats by Mohamed Mourabiti, a Moroccan artist originally from Marrakech, as well as a painting by the German artist and author, Hans Werner Geerdts. Also found are fabrics from the seventies by Verner Panton and other special touches.
Located on the first floor, Chems (meaning ‘sun’) is a spacious bedroom with generous proportions. From its private terrace, you can comfortably look out onto the courtyard, coiled up in its sofa.
With its high ceilings, Chems is a place where one can feel at ease, a luminous room, which is particularly appreciated by people in search of calm and relaxation. Hung over the bed headboard is a tapestry from Safi by the artist Mohamed Melehi. Chems has an en suite bathroom with shower.
Located on the first floor, this superb suite is an invitation to taste the timeless Eastern comforts. Adorned with fabrics coming from Morocco, the Middle East and the Indian continent, the Alkamar (meaning ‘moon’) suite will transport you to a sensual world. Settled into the large and comfortable seating suite of the salon with a fireplace, one cannot help but admire the enchanting cedar wood ceiling, sculpted and painted in a different era, with a window in its centre, looking up to the Milky Way.
Seated in a large alcove, the B’hou opens up a perspective onto the salon and the bedroom with a double bed. The Alkamar suite also has en suite bathroom facilities with shower, as well as a private balcony.
